Leslie

This is Leslie. He lives in Rhode Island and he is an Urban Sketching friend.
Scrolling through his pictures I found the "Holstee Manifesto". I had never heard of it but I liked it so I put it into his portrait. There is a whole website devoted to this manifesto if you're interested. You can get coffee mugs, tote bags, coasters and posters and all sorts of stuff with this manifesto written on them. There is another quote from a lyric by John Mayer I put in at the bottom that Leslie had in his photos. It's at the very bottom and it's hardly legible really but it says "Don't be scared to walk alone. And don't be scared to like it."

José

This is José. He is an urban sketching friend living in Lisbon, Portugal. I met him a few years ago in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic at an Urban Sketching Symposium - a gathering of urban sketchers from all over the world. José was teaching a sketching workshop called "Sketch Hunt" which was like a treasure hunt where we went looking for a sketching subject and approach to the drawing after taking a slip of paper from an envelope he had with a word on it like "mysterious", "line", or "elevat

Scott

This is Scott. I first met him about 15 years ago on a group ride. I later found out he lived across from the street from my mom when she lived on Pearl street in Camden. He also had bought her Jeep Cherokee when she sold it. We rode together for several years but he moved away about 10 years ago. I still miss riding with him.

Trevor

This is Trevor. We met on a bike ride about 13 years ago. He's my physical therapist now. I go to him whenever I have an issue I can't figure out how to fix myself. He knows what he's doing.

Horacio

This is Hori. He is my Sister-in-law's brother which has always made me think of him as my friend in law even though I feel pretty sure he would be my friend without the in-law thing. He lives in Houston and is a high school principle and he is also a really good photographer.
I sketched this on the train from Naples to Florence this morning. We are just south of Bologna as I'm tapping the Post button and plan to arrive in Venice at 1pm.

Heather

This is Heather. She and my wife both work with Sotheby's International Realty but in different offices. She grew up on a small island off the coast of Maine and lives down in Portland now. I think she has a beautiful smile.

Eduardo

This is Eduardo. He is an urban sketching friend living in São Paulo, Brazil. I met him a few years ago in Santo Domingo. He was teaching a class on sketching with color markers. So, I thought it would be fun to put away the watercolors and paints and do his portrait entirely in markers.
This is another "collaborative" portrait. Eduardo sketched the airplane and I sketched him and mashed them together digitally.
