Jamie

This is Jamie. She is a really talented oil painter. I met her a few years ago when I took an oil painting class with Ronald Frontin, a master in the medium. She was painting really cool stuff and I was struggling with the newbies drawing bricks with charcoal. I don't paint much with oils these days but I have been wanting to do an oil portrait and Jamie provided the perfect inspiration.

12"x17" Oil on Canvas.

I am impressed by your ability to do such good work in so many different styles and mediums.

This one is in oil, you say? And the result is a softness, less structural than others.

How long does it take you to do a portrait? For instance, this one? And other in a different medium?

How many years have you been at this?

Enough questions. Answer only if you like!

Thanks Wildside!

Yes, this is oil. This portrait took me about 5-8 hours I would guess. I do a fair amount of looking/contemplating next moves.

Other portraits can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. This one took the longest and it is also the largest I have done in The Portrait Project.

I have been sketching passionately since 2008. I think this blog documents it pretty well though it only has a fraction of the sketching I have actually done. Architecture has taken a backseat - especially in the last few months.

I'm now ever more impressed...
