Lisa 1

I painted Lisa yesterday. I took this photo of the painting at the end of our time together. I brought my portrait sketchbook, acrylics, inks and watercolors and my new camera setup which will allow me to do timelapse speed painting videos. We sat down and talked about the portrait and Lisa expressed that she really wanted to get back in her studio and paint more so I suggested we work on this painting together over the course of a few sessions. Lisa likes to paint in oils so we found a canvas, scrounged through tubes of paint to find a good palette of colors, then set up in the dining room where the light was best. I was going to record the painting but my battery was dead (next time bring some extra!) This is how I left it. I emailed her some photos and encouraged her to have fun with it. I'll come back next week and it will be my turn to play. Can't wait to see how this collaboration will turn out!

Steps

Steps from the harbor up to Rockport Village. Today was my first day outside painting in a long time. I'll be out a lot this Summer so I need to get my groove on. A new restaurant - Salt Water Farm - is in the building at the top of these steps. I went up and got a ham sandwich and ice tea when I got hungry. At $11, I thought it was a bit pricey but it sure was tasty. Today was also Alex's first day of work at the Waterfront restaurant in Camden. By all reports, it was a good day for him.

This is the non-digital version. The digital version I posted earlier was pretty helpful in allowing me to discover how I wanted to finish off this "sketching" (my new term for something between a painting and a sketch). 10"x22" Twinrocker paper. Pencil, Ink & stick, watercolor.

Winter Boats

Rockport Harbor - the boats have been put up for Winter. I sketched this over a couple of days on site. The weather has been in the thirties so the watercolor is taking a little longer to dry and I am getting colder quicker. I photographed the unfinished image with my iphone then opened it up in my tablet and worked on it in Photoshop Touch. 10"x22" Twinrocker paper. Pencil, Ink & stick, watercolor with marks and tones added in PS touch.
